My Story
In August 2014, I realized a life goal I won the Iceplex Ad Film Award for the fourth time and could not wait to start my own media production company. I eagerly started pitching my idea to various local companies in Nagpur, urging them to produce their ad films through me. But each company I visited declined my offer. Nevertheless, I was passionate about film-making and was determined to start something of my own. In a true entrepreneurial manner, I teamed up with two of my friends and created a youtube channel named ‘Sine Vave’. We kept posting content on the channel on a regular basis. The result? Today the channel boasts 12 thousand subscribers and 2.7 million views and the venture was the Asia finalist at the TiE International Startup Competition.
Film-making saw me through a difficult teenage life. Hailing from a rural background, my parents possessed limited resources and that coupled with my shyness made me a non social individual. Writing was an escape route, because only writing made me feel better about myself. Once my teacher caught me writing a poem during class but instead of punishing me, she asked me to recite the poem. The applause I received after reciting the poem was totally unexpected. My teacher went a step ahead and enrolled me in a short film competition. She even lent me her camera to shoot the film. This incident made me confident and played a key part in my later success. My passion has also helped me grow as a leader. Apart from providing media production services to 50+ companies, I have helped numerous filmmakers in their film making endeavors. After my graduation, I along with my college mates started CoCreato which is a first of a kind platform facilitating meaningful musical collaborations.
Currently I'm a Marketing Analytics Graduate Student at the Simon Business School, University of Rochester and enthusiastically looking to make a career in marketing specifically in the media and entertainment field.
