CoCreato

My love for travelling took me to multiple places in India where I realised that the country’s music scenario is deeply monopolised by the Hindi film industry. As a big indie music fan, I strongly felt that music deserves an identity beyond a film and decided to do something about it. Inspired by this, I along with my college mates started a platform called ‘CoCreato’ for musicians to create, record and publish their original music. CoCreato is now a successful venture with more than 300 musicians creating new music every day.

CoCreato is a hyperlocal platform facilitating collaborations between musicians. It is backed by an app which helps you connect to musicians in your vicinity and be a part of the CoCreato tribe. Once you are a part of the tribe, how do you collaborate?. And where?
CoCreato Spaces are interactive facilities where tribe members can experiment, jam and record awesome music together. The Spaces offer events, workshops, masterclasses and latest production resources to empower the tribe. The app acts as an aggregator of such spaces. CoCreato is on a mission to revolutionize the way music is created, one collaboration at a time.

Podcasts

I never thought podcasts were my thing but after creating my first podcast called ‘Fame Chat with Shirley Setia’, I realised that it was so much fun understanding what it takes to be a successful artist. In 2017, I went on a podcast spree, interviewing different musicians from rappers to soft rock bands. I created and released six podcasts that year with an aim to promote independent artists creating non-film music.

Creator Digest

We all have a purpose to our life. Some realise it early while others discern it at their own pace. Howsoever it happens, we all have a story to tell. There are thousands of stories waiting around the corner to be told and retold and yet another millions of ears longing to listen to them. Incidents and experiences lead to learnings and learnings lead to captivating stories.

The Creators Digest is the common hub for aspiring musicians and common masses to watch enthralling stories about other musicians, their problems, learnings and experiences. In a way, they are your guide to the world of music creation. No story is good or bad, it is just a learning experience. As the members of the tribe, we feel that it is our responsibility to share intriguing stories about life of musicians. Who knows, they might motivate some young child to make a career in music one day. Stories do not just shape individuals, they have the power to shape entire communities and that is something we firmly believe.

CoCreato Live

In order to give more visibility to musicians in the CoCreato Community, I started a concept wherein their concerts/shows would be recorded and used as samples/demos for clients struggling to  make a decision on which musician to hire for their private events.

When Maggi, a beloved Indian snack, was banned recently, I had an idea for a parody song on the ban that had the potential to go viral. I immediately went to my studio and made the video ‘Teri Meri Ye Maggi’ with my team. The video went viral and has 1.5M hits on Youtube. Today, when I look back, I feel that sometimes taking impromptu decisions helps a lot to find your true potential.

The Anthem

After attending my college’s cultural fest, I felt that the 60 year old event lacked a defining element. I took the initiative and I wrote my first song, ‘Udta Hu’. I gathered a team of 25+ musicians, singers and music producer to publish it. The song became a big day hit, it was listed in iTunes and recognised as the official anthem of my college. This was my first step into the world of songwriting.
